The last few months I have discovered an increased passion for really digging in the Word of God. I have found that studying with someone else has really kindled that passion. It has proven that the Word truly is alive and active. Week after week I sit down to share what the Lord has taught me about a particular passage, and the same passage has come alive in a completely different way to the person sitting across the table from me. The insights to be gained, the applications to be made, the knowledge to be learned, and the love to be deepened from studying the Word are truly boundless treasures in Christ.
One of the things that has helped this has been journaling my thoughts as I study. It keeps me focused on the task at hand and helps me to be able to go back and remember what the Lord taught me that day. As I listen to the comments made by my sweet friends during our times of study, I am encouraged, challenged, and strengthened by what the Lord has shown them. I write down their comments and observations so I don’t lose the things they have shown me in the Word. I love hearing about and watching by friends being conformed to the image of Christ! There have also been times that a passage that I have read time and time again has an entirely new light shone on it and I think, “Have I read this before?” Again, it’s living and active… But when I go back and read what I jot down in my journal, I surprise myself sometimes. The insights the Lord gives when we study His Word are incredible and the teacher in me cries out, “I need to share this with everyone I know! I need to write a blog about it!” Which brings me to the purpose of this new page on my blog. Hopefully this will be yet another form of accountability to stay grounded in the Word and consistent in my time of study. I am by no means saying that I have the authority or wisdom to share much of anything from the Bible, but I love reading and hearing what others say about Scripture so I pray that someone will be encouraged by the things I have learned as I pass them along here.
